    On June 21, the Norfolk District Regulatory Branch issued a public notice soliciting comments as part of the scoping process for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate project alternatives and public-interest review factors for the Virginia Electric Power Company (Dominion) proposal known as the “Surry-Skiffes Creek-Whealton Aerial Transmission Line Project.” In response to several requests, the comment period will be extended until Sept. 3.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to evaluate project alternatives and the public interest review factors for the Virginia Electric Power Company proposal known as Surry – Skiffes Creek – Whealton Aerial Transmission Line “Project”. This notice serves to announce a public scoping meeting July 17, 2019, 5 - 8 p.m., at the Doubletree by Hilton Williamsburg located at 50 Kingsmill Rd, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185. The Corps will use the comments to assist in identifying the significant issues, which should be addressed in a Draft Environmental Impact Statement.

    Huntington Ingalls Industries (Newport News Shipbuilding) proposes to modify its existing dredge permit that standardized dredge depths to include a new wharf and 400’ x 3,700’ channel at its Joint Manufacturing Facility’s north end. The modification is to accommodate a need to moor and load ocean-transport barges as part of Columbia Class submarine construction and will require the removal of 1.12 million cubic yards of subaqueous bottom.
