The Norfolk District library has approximately 22,000 volumes; collectively 3500 technical reports from the Waterways Experiment Station, U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory, Construction Engineering and Research Laboratory, Coastal Engineering Research Center, Environmental Protection Agency and more, including more than 90 collections of periodicals, 224 videos and cassettes.
Engineering Map Files which are housed in the library, contain civil and military project drawings for the District. There are approximately 25 cabinets of these drawings, some of which are originals and date back to the 1700's.
The library also has topographic maps for Virginia (varying scales); nautical charts; wetland inventory maps; county highway maps; and state highway maps.
NOTICE: Due to a vacancy within the Norfolk District Library we are unable to facilitate public visits at this time. We hope to fill the position shortly and once again allow the public to come and review our collection.
Most USACE libraries lend their books and reports to other libraries through regional networks as well as through OCLC Resource Sharing. We are unable to lend materials directly to individuals outside of the Corps of Engineers, so requests to borrow must come from another library.
Please search the USACE Libraries Catalog to find material you are looking for and to help identify the library which may include the title in their collection. Contact the library directly to learn about their lending policies and to find out how they accept inter-library loan requests.
