    The City of Virginia Beach proposes dredging in Hurds Cove, a tributary to the Eastern Branch of the Lynnhaven River, that would provide navigable access to properties located in the eastern portions of Little Haven, Quail Run and Bishopsgate neighborhoods as well as the western portion of Lynnhaven Acres neighborhood in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The public notice comment period ends on July 6, 2018.

    Chesterfield County proposes to restore water quality and treatment performance of Falling Creek Reservoir by mechanically dredging deposited sediment and constructing a sediment forebay to meet requirements of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality Municipal Separate Storm System Permit. Falling Creek Reservoir was originally constructed in 1951 for water supply storage but has not been used for that purpose since 1985. The reservoir has lost 66 million gallons or 22% of the original storage capacity.

    The applicant proposes to maintenance dredge the Back River Navigation Channel in Hampton, Virginia. The project involves maintenance dredging approximately 2,346,240 square feet of subaqueous bottom to a maximum depth of – 15 feet mean low water, including overdredge. Each maintenance dredging event will mechanically dredge approximately 205,000 cubic yards of material. The dredge material will be transported via bottom dump scow to be disposed of in the Norfolk Ocean Disposal site.

    The project is located in located at the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and the Poquoson River at 131 York Point Drive in Seaford, Virginia. The applicant proposes to fill 426 square feet of intertidal and subaqueous bottom by creating a network of stone structures between an existing breakwater and an existing riprap revetment.
