    The City of Virginia Beach proposes to mechanically dredge approximately 54,906 cubic yards (561,164 square feet) at varying depths not to exceed -4.5 feet below mean low water (MLW) in order to allow residents to restore safe access to navigable channels in the Lynnhaven River and remove accumulated sediment in the channels and in the access basins around private owner’s docks, piers, and similar facilities. The project is located adjacent to the Chesopeian Colony subdivision within and between Pinetree Branch (to the west) and London Bridge Creek (to the east), which are tributaries of the Eastern Branch of the Lynnhaven River in the City of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Based on plant biological activity the growing season in southeastern Virginia started by the last week in February.

    Prince William County Department of Transportation proposes to temporarily and permanently impact jurisdictional wetlands and waters of the United States for the widening of Minnieville Road from an existing two-lane road to a four-lane divided road with a raised median from Spriggs Road to Dumfries Road (Route 234), a sidewalk on the south side of the road, a shared use path on the north side of the road, thru-lanes with curb and gutter, four stormwater management ponds and a culvert replacement at Powell’s Creek in Prince William County, Virginia. Permanent impacts are to 0.569 acre of palustrine forested wetland (PFO), 0.108 acre of palustrine emergent wetland (PEM), and 1,263 linear feet of stream channel. Permanent conversion impacts are to 0.198 acre of PFO. Temporary impacts are to 0.076 acre PFO, 3 square feet of PEM, and 138 linear feet of stream channels. Comment period ends April 27, 2016.

    George Karavolos proposes to remove an existing failing bulkhead and concrete boat ramp, and construct a new 141 linear foot bulkhead so as to create two boat slips by excavating the area behind the failing bulkhead. In addition, the project includes mechanically dredging approximately 220 cubic yards (4,863 square feet) for an access channel and turning basin at a depth not to exceed -3.0 feet below mean low water. The dredged material will be transferred to sealed trucks on-site and disposed of off-site in a lawful manner. The project is located in a man-made canal to Broad Bay, a tributary to the Lynnhaven River, at 2004 English Cedar Circle in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

    NAO-2014-0044 Camp Pendleton Danger Zone

    The district engineer has established a new Danger Zone in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean adjacent to Camp Pendleton, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Effective date is March 30, 2016. This order will remain in effect until changes or formal regulations are developed.
  • NAO-2015-1785 Military Highway improvements

    The applicant proposes to improve an approximately 1.58 mile corridor along Military Highway (US Route 13 and State Route 165) and Northhampton Boulevard (US Route 13 and State Route 166) to upgrade highway safety and efficiency. Proposed improvements include widening of Military Highway from a four lane roadway to a six and eight land divided roadway with a curb, gutter, and sidewalk; widening of Northampton Boulevard and Princess Anne Road from a four lane roadway to a six lane divided roadway with curb, gutter, and sidewalk; installation of a Continuous Flow Intersection at the intersection of Military Highway, Northampton Boulevard, and Princess Anne Road; and attendant required storm water management features. The proposed mitigation bank site, to be known as Meadow Lawn Farm Umbrella Mitigation Bank, is comprised of approximately 335 acres of land located on the Little Calfpasture River and Kelso Spring Branch, both of which are within the Maury River watershed in Rockbridge County, Virginia.   • Budget, USACE Work Plan provide $64 million for Virginia efforts

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Tuesday delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2016 (FY 2016) work plan for the Army Civil Works program just hours after the president released his proposed FY 17 budget. The proposed budget and work plan include a total of $64 million for Norfolk District civil works projects in Virginia through FY16-17.

    Roslyn Farm Corporation proposes to construct the approximately 40-acre Chudoba Industrial Park in Prince George County, VA. The project would provide “pad ready” commercial/industrial sites on property within the Virginia Enterprise Zone. The project is an industrial/commercial development of three large warehouse buildings (47,000 to 135,200 square feet) each with associated truck parking/docking and employee parking. The project would result in permanent impacts to approximately 1.42 acres of non-tidal wetlands associated with unnamed tributaries to Blackwater Swamp.
