Budget, USACE Work Plan provide $64 million for Virginia efforts

NORFOLK – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Tuesday delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2016 (FY 2016) work plan for the Army Civil Works program just hours after the president released his proposed FY 17 budget. 

The proposed budget and work plan include a total of $64 million for Norfolk District civil works projects in Virginia through FY16-17. 

 Some of the major items include:

The Norfolk District’s portion of the Army Civil Works budget funds studies, planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of water resources projects throughout the Rappahannock, York, James, and Chowan River basins, as well as the coastal portions of Virginia.

Both the budget and the work plan are subject to the approval of congress.
