  • 408-NAO-2026-0015 (Deep Creek Dock Bulkhead Replacement Project)

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by the Accomack County Public Works Department to install a new 117 linear foot vinyl bulkhead up to 1.5-feet channelward of the existing bulkhead along the north side of the Deep Creek (Accomack County) Federal Navigation Project turning Basin. This project may alter the Deep Creek (Accomack County) Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on April 2, 2026.
  • Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment, Deep Creek Navigation Channel and Harbor, Newport News, Virginia

    The USACE-Norfolk District has prepared a draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment to assess the potential impacts for maintenance dredging of the Deep Creek Channel with subsequent dredged material placement at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area. The Deep Creek Navigation Channel is within the Deep Creek tidal estuary and tributary of the James River in Newport News, Virginia. The Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA) is located in Portsmouth, Virginia.

    Greystar Development, LLC has proposed to construct 319 townhomes, utilities, roads and stormwater management facilities. The 85 acre project site is located south of Hull Street Road, east of Hampton Park Drive, and west of Ashbrook Parkway in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Comments are due by August 12, 2022.

    Bryan's Cove Developers propose filling .56 acres of non-tidal forested wetlands in order to expand the existing residential development located at 1800 Shipyard Road in Chesapeake, Virginia.

    Expiration date: 3/30/2017

    The City of Newport News proposes to construct a multi-modal transportation center to include an Amtrak train station, parking, access roads and areas, commuter center, stormwater management BMP, and utilities. The purpose of the project is to greater serve the transportation needs of the local community and region, and to allow for future growth of ridership. The project will permanently impact 230 linear feet of perennial stream, approximately 2.14 acres of wetlands, and 1.66 acres of open water. Temporary wetland impacts are estimated at 0.53 acres. To compensate for impacts, the applicant proposes to purchase mitigation bank and stream credits. The Regulatory Branch is evaluating this project pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
