Lynnhaven Inlet Jetties Public Scoping Meeting

Published July 2, 2015
Expiration date: 8/31/2015

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the city of Virginia Beach announce the initiation of the Lynnhaven Inlet Jetties Study and invite the public to attend a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) scoping meeting July 22, from 6-8 p.m., at the Frank W. Cox High School auditorium lobby, located at 2425 Shorehaven Drive, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23454.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the study and provide comments on the project.   The USACE plans to prepare an Environmental Assessment to evaluate options and potential impacts to address the shoaling that occurs in the authorized federal navigation channel north of the Lynnhaven Inlet, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This assessment will include the potential construction of jetties on either side of the Lynnhaven Inlet and other reasonable alternatives.

Scoping comments may be provided at the meeting and/or submitted to the Corps Project Manager, Alicia Logalbo, via email/mail/telephone: Alicia.Logalbo@usace.army.mil; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District, ATTN: Alicia Logalbo, 803 Front Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23510; (757) 201-7210, until Aug. 31, 2015.
