    Mosquito treatment set for Monday at Craney Island

    NORFOLK, Va. – Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct another round of aerial mosquito treatment Monday over federal property on Craney Island.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold its 2015 FNOD quarterly restoration advisory board meeting March 25, 6-8 p.m., at the Courtyard Marriott, located at 8060 Harbour View Boulevard, Suffolk, Virginia.

    Nansemond project’s Restoration Advisory Board to meet Thursday

    SUFFOLK, Va. — The environmental mission at Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot remains a priority for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The project’s quarterly Restoration Advisory Board meeting is set for 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursday via Webex.

    North Landing Bridge replacement project clears major hurdle

    NORFOLK, Va. – A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project aimed at replacing North Landing Bridge took a crucial step forward this week. Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, chief of engineers and USACE commanding general, signed a Chief’s Report on Tuesday, recommending the North Landing Bridge Replacement Study’s findings for authorization by Congress.

    AFRC crew to conduct aerial mosquito treatment today

    The 757th Airlift Squadron, from Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, will conduct aerial mosquito spraying over Langley Air Force Base and Craney Island the night of Aug. 26, 2020.
  • Sacramento District’s Bryte Yard teammates Greg Jerman, James Helm, Tony Theard, Vince Diaz and Mike Guidry fashion a ladder as a base for a fall prevention safety display. The display is used to remind workers of the importance of preventing falls in the construction industry. The Sacramento District maintenance yard, located in the West Sacramento community of Bryte, is home to the team of craftsmen with skills in vessel and heavy equipment operation, carpentry, electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, metal fabrication, welding. The Bryte Yard Team will be participation in the virtual 7th Annual Safety Stand-Down set for Sept. 14 -18.

  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is currently reviewing a Southeastern Public Service Authority proposal to expand landfill operations at the existing regional landfill in Suffolk through the Environmental Impact Statement process. 
As part of the process, the Corps is conducting public scoping through Sept. 14, utilizing a web-based Virtual Public Scoping Room.
