    USACE to host Arlington National Cemetery project Industry Day for contractors

    NORFOLK, Virginia - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District is scheduled to host a virtual “Industry Day” event on April 13 from 12:00-3:30 p.m. for construction contractors interested in the Arlington National Cemetery Southern Expansion (ANCSE) project and Defense Access Roads (DAR) project.

    NORFOLK, Virginia - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District is scheduled to host a “Careers Virtual Open House” event March 17 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to fill multiple vacancies within the organization.

    District conducting controlled flood release at Gathright Da

    COVINGTON, Va. – Operators at Gathright Dam began a controlled flood storage release Tuesday due to increased rainfall. Beginning at 9 a.m., operators at the dam gradually increased the release rate from 1,200 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 5,000 cfs over a three-hour period. This change in release rates will increase river stages at the dam about 2.7 feet and approximately 2.5 feet in Covington over the next 6 to 10 hours.

    WASHINGTON - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2021 (FY 2021) Work Plan for the Army Civil Works program on January 19, 2021, which included funding appropriations for the Deep Creek Bridge Replacement Project in Chesapeake, Virginia in the amount of $12,657,000.

In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot  became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999.     North Landing Bridge replacement project clears major hurdle

    NORFOLK, Va. – A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project aimed at replacing North Landing Bridge took a crucial step forward this week. Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, chief of engineers and USACE commanding general, signed a Chief’s Report on Tuesday, recommending the North Landing Bridge Replacement Study’s findings for authorization by Congress.

    The 757th Airlift Squadron, from Youngstown Air Reserve Station, Ohio, will conduct aerial mosquito spraying over Langley Air Force Base and Craney Island the night of Aug. 26, 2020.
  • Sacramento District’s Bryte Yard teammates Greg Jerman, James Helm, Tony Theard, Vince Diaz and Mike Guidry fashion a ladder as a base for a fall prevention safety display. The display is used to remind workers of the importance of preventing falls in the construction industry. The Sacramento District maintenance yard, located in the West Sacramento community of Bryte, is home to the team of craftsmen with skills in vessel and heavy equipment operation, carpentry, electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, metal fabrication, welding. The Bryte Yard Team will be participation in the virtual 7th Annual Safety Stand-Down set for Sept. 14 -18.
