The walkway will be closed for construction.

A closure of the existing shoulder walkway on the west side of the Deep Creek Bridge and a closure of the right-turn-only lane on Mill Creek Parkway to Moses Grandy Trail will take effect on September 18, 2023.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will implement a closure of the existing shoulder walkway on the west side of the Deep Creek Bridge and a closure of the right-turn-only lane on Mill Creek Parkway to Moses Grandy Trail, which will take effect on September 18, 2023.

The current bridge walkway obstructs the installation of a sheeting and shoring system needed to ensure bridge construction proceeds safely and efficiently.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is fully committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring the timely completion of this transformative project and kindly urges commuters to adhere to all posted signage and use designated crosswalks for safety during this closure.

Though traffic flow across the bridge will continue during construction, commuters should expect delays. Impacts to traffic will typically appear on the Chesapeake Travel Advisories Calendar and shared via  @ChesapeakeRoads on Twitter.
