They aim to generate 13,353 stream credits through stream restoration (9,658 linear feet) and stream buffer reestablishment (96 acres).   • City of Hampton and USACE sign agreement to unite for coastal resiliency

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District, and the City of Hampton signed a Feasibility Cost Share Agreement on Friday, July 26 to kick off the Peninsula Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study in partnership with the City of Hampton and neighboring municipalities.

    The Sponsor proposes to design, construct, establish, and operate Hogue Creek Mitigation Bank (Bank). The Sponsor is proposing to generate 11,596 stream credits through a combination of stream restoration (3,864 linear feet), stream enhancement (522 linear feet) stream buffer rehabilitation (30.2 acres), livestock exclusion (9,191 linear feet), and threatened and endangered species habitat creation. Additionally, the Sponsor is proposing to generate 39.2 non-tidal wetland credits through non-tidal wetland restoration (37 acres), non-tidal wetland enhancement (0.03 acres), and upland buffer rehabilitation (4.02 acres). The purpose of the Bank is to provide off-site compensatory mitigation for projects that result in unavoidable impacts to waters of the U.S. including wetlands and streams.
