  • Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area: Potential Impacts on Future Deposits Due to Limited Capacity

    Due to limited capacity, the Norfolk District anticipates that acceptance of future deposits of dredged material into the CIDMMA, including deposits into the rehandling basin, will need to be deferred indefinitely until completion of the Norfolk Harbor Navigation Improvements Project, Inner Harbor Channels, and Anchorage F, and sufficient capacity is constructed to resume normal operations and dredged material inflows. With the exception of previous commitments for utilization of the rehandling basin, all other deposits are expected to be deferred through calendar year 2024 at a minimum.
  • USACE Release of the Draft Chesapeake Bay Oyster Restoration Program Great Wicomico River Supplemental Environmental Assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Commonwealth of Virginia, acting through its agent, the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, announce the release of the Draft Chesapeake Bay Oyster Recovery Program Great Wicomico River Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA). This Draft SEA evaluates alternatives that have the potential to improve the current and future function of eight restored reefs in the Great Wicomico River, Virginia. The study recommends expanding one reef, upgrading low-relief areas (2-4 inches high) of several reefs using small, 3-inch stone to a height of 12 inches, and adding large stones for additional habitat. Public comments should be submitted by Feb. 28, 2023.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Norfolk District (Corps) announces an administrative correction to the 22-SPGP- LT. The 22-SPGP- LT was issued on August 4, 2022 and went into effect on August 8, 2022. Via this public notice we announce a correction to the wetland mitigation statement in Section II(b)(4) to properly reflect the 22-SPGP-LT compensation requirements, which are also listed in General Condition 21.

    Project: Dominion Energy Virginia proposes to construct a 2,587-megawatt (MW) offshore wind project, known as the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) Commercial Project, located within the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Virginia, which will include associated infrastructure within the cities of Virginia Beach and Chesapeake, Virginia.
