    NAO 2011-02448 (Charles City Landfill ,Charles City, Virginia)

    Waste Management of Virginia, Inc. is proposing an undertaking to construct 16 new landfill cells at the existing Charles City Landfill. The project site is located within the St. Mary’s Church Battlefield a historic property potentially eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. In compliance with regulations implementing Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Norfolk District is soliciting comments on the proposed project from the public; Federal, state, and local agencies and officials; Native American Tribes; and other interested parties. This public notice provides an opportunity for members of the public to express their views on the undertaking’s effects on historic properties and resolution of adverse effects.

  • NAO-2011-00400 (Colonial National Historic Park, Yorktown, Virginia)

    The National Park Service proposes to stabilize approximately 3200 linear feet of eroding shoreline by integrating a living shoreline design with stone sills and marsh creation, stone spurs, and reinforcing existing revetments for the purpose of protecting Colonial Parkway and known cultural resources, protecting and enhancing marsh and beach shoreline habitat, and improving water quality by reducing sediment loads into the York River.

    SUFFOLK, Va. -- A sign warns people of the danger at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot. In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999.     USACE schedules virtual FNOD Restoration Advisory Board meeting Dec 1

    Community members can learn more about restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot (FNOD) and hear the latest cleanup progress during a virtual quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting scheduled for 6:15 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1.

    Kennington Place, LLC proposes to construct Section 2B of a residential development. The project would include the construction of 60 lots, roads, and associated utilities. The Corps has determined that the proposed federal action would result in an adverse effect on site 44KW0334.

  • NAO-2006-07101 (Liberty Ridge Subdivision, James county, Virginia)

    JCC, LLC requests reauthorization to permanently impact 1.50 acres of palustrine forested wetlands, 0.04 acres of palustrine forested conversion, 562 linear feet of stream channel in order to finish construction of Sections 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Liberty Ridge Subdivision which was permitted in September 2006. The project is located on 307.5 acres off Liberty Ridge Parkway, east of Colby Swamp and west of Centerville Road in James City County.

    Patrick Olds Outstanding Homes, Inc. is proposing the construction of two adjacent single-family homes at 1733 and 1735 Johnstown Road in Chesapeake, Virginia. The project will impact 0.50 acres of forested wetlands.

  • NAO-2020-01573 (DWC Holdings, Loudoun, Virginia)

    DWC Holdings, LLC is proposing Phase I of the proposed Rivana at Innovation Station project to construct a mixed-use development providing a walkable urban center connecting to a future Metro station in Loudoun County, Virginia. Phase I will include with 250,000 square feet of office space, 2,000 residential units, a 265-room hotel, and communal open space. Phase II of the project includes 1,185 linear feet of stream restoration associated with a tributary of Horsepen Run within the western portion of the project area. The project is located northeast and adjacent to the Dulles Greenway (State Routes 267) and Sully Road (Route 28) interchange and is bounded to the north and southeast by Innovation Avenue; the former Innovation Avenue currently bisects the study area in Loudoun County, Virginia.

    The Nature Conservancy proposes to construct and manage a Virginia Aquatic Resources Trust Fund stream compensatory mitigation site (Site). The Site will be known as PO-10 Walnut Hill. The Site will be located in Westmoreland County, VA.

    The City of Suffolk proposes to construct a flood control Best Management Practice (BMP) pond designed to attenuate storm flows within the Pughsville neighborhood. The basin will be 3.05 acres in size and is designed to attenuate the 100-year storm event. The BMP would result in the permanent loss of 0.75 acres of non-tidal forested wetlands and 673 linear feet of intermittent stream channel.

  • Proposed Compensation Site Monitoring Report Template

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Norfolk District and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) worked with the Interagency Review Team (IRT) to develop the Draft 2022 Monitoring Report Template (Template) for use in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Comments should be received by the close of business on December 17, 2022.

    Georgio Construction is proposing the construction of a residential subdivision to impact 0.81 acres of palustrine forested wetlands. The project is located at the end of Brodeur Lane in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Public comments should be received by the close of business on December 17, 2022.

    Lancaster County Board of Supervisors, RL PROP. 2011 Investments, LLC, and The Landing Owners Association propose to remove concrete debris and portions of existing stone groins; construct five armor stone breakwaters, two armor stone spurs, beach nourishment; and add new plantings. The project would result in the loss of 0.57 acre of subaqueous bottom and 0.02 acre of tidal non-vegetated wetlands (covering existing stone groins). In addition, the ecological restoration would include 2.81 acres of beach nourishment and 0.96 acre of new beach and dune plantings. The project is located on the Rappahannock River at Westland Beach, Windmill Point Marina, and the Landing Owners Association at the end of Windmill Point Road, in Lancaster County, Virginia. Public comments should be received by the close of business on December 12, 2022.

  • U.S. Army Corps and Miami-Dade County to host charrette for re-initiation of Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Study

    MIAMI – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Norfolk District and Miami-Dade County, its non-federal sponsor, will host a charrette from November 14 to 18, which will include a public meeting on Monday, Nov. 14 for the re-initiation of the Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study​.

    North Landing Beach RV Resort & Cottages-Virginia Beach, LLC proposes to remove gabion baskets, mechanically dredge and use the material for beach nourishment, construct piers, a bulkhead, a groin, and a timber walkway at 161 Princess Anne Road in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The applicant is also requesting after-the-fact authorization for previous impacts. The applicant is proposing to mitigate for the 2.28 acres of vegetated, nontidal wetland impacts through the purchase of 4.6 acres of mitigation bank credits.
