  • NAO-2025-01183 (JEBLC-FS Fuel Pier and Sandbar Dredging & Beach Nourishment, Virginia Beach, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 2/25/2026

    The U.S. Navy requests authorization to perform approximately 64.2 acres of dredging, in several locations, to address shoaling and sandbar formations that are prohibiting critical access necessary for military exercises. Approximately 345,000 cubic yards of dredged material would be removed and placed upland to be utilized for dune nourishment and/or the materials would be utilized for the creation of berms and beach nourishment. All work would occur on the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story in Virginia Beach, VA.

  • NAO-2010-00809 (NSN Dredging Phase II, Norfolk, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 8/16/2024

    The Navy is requesting a permit modification for the Naval Station Norfolk (NSN) Maintenance Dredging individual permit that was issued on February 29, 2024 for the newly tested NSN Phase II areas that would allow additional dredged material placement options, to include ocean placement at the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS), pipeline placement at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area (CIDMMA), disposal at an approved upland facility, or a combination of these alternatives. Comments should be received by the close of business on August 16, 2024.

  • NAO-2010-0809 (Naval Station Norfolk, Maintenance Dredging, Elizabeth River and Willoughby Bay, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 9/13/2023

    The Navy is proposing to perform maintenance dredging at Naval Station Norfolk on the Elizabeth River and Willoughby Bay in Norfolk, Virginia. This project includes maintenance dredging throughout the installation and ocean and/or upland disposal of the dredged material. Approximately 7.7 million cubic yards of material will be dredged from a 340-acre area during the 10-year maintenance period. Dredge material disposal alternatives include ocean placement at the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS), placement at the Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area, and/or disposal at another upland site. This public notice is being issued for comments related to the regulatory permits, and also to satisfy the requirements for Section 103 of the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972. Public comments should be received by close of business Sept. 13, 2023.

  • NAO-2019-01614, NSN Deperming Station, Norfolk

    Expiration date: 8/31/2022

    The Corps of Engineers is establishing a restricted area in the waters of the Elizabeth River surrounding the Naval Station Norfolk Lambert’s Point Deperming Station in Norfolk, Virginia, as outlined in the Navigation Regulations, (33 C.F.R. §334.296). The regulation is necessary to better protect underwater equipment, personnel, and vessels utilizing the facility by implementing a waterside security program.  The regulation establishes the restricted area waters surrounding the existing facility immediately adjacent to the channel into Norfolk Harbor. EFFECTIVE DATE: August 31, 2022

  • NAO-2008-02691 (Cheatham Annex)

    Expiration date: 6/8/2022

    The project consists of maintenance dredging at the CAD-A Pier slips at U.S. Naval Stations Yorktown Cheatham Annex near Williamsburg, VA. All dredged material will be placed into and transported by bottom dumping scows and disposed of in the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS). Please submit public comments by June 8.
