    Metro Machine Corp. dba General Dynamics Nassco Norfolk is proposing to deepen and expand the existing berthing areas from 15.8 acres to 24.0 acres. All work would occur in Portsmouth, Virginia.

  • NAO-2022-00145 (Fairwinds Landing, Dredging Heavy Lift Wharfs and Bulkhead, Norfolk, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 11/20/2025

    Fairwinds Landing LLC is proposing to dredge existing boat basins, replace existing bulkhead structures and install two heavy lift wharfs. All work is to occur in Norfolk, Virginia.

  • 408-NAO-2025-0081 (Tangier Fuel Pier and Bulkhead Replacement Project)

    Expiration date: 10/24/2025

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by the Town of Tangier for the Tangier Fuel Pier and Bulkhead Replacement Project located at 1000 Williams Wheatley Road in Tangier, VA. The proposed project will include removal of two existing deteriorating docks and piles, installation of a new east bulkhead, dredging of the area adjacent to current and proposed bulkheads, and reconstruction of the north dock. This project may alter the Tangier Basin reach of the Tangier Channels Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on October 24, 2025.
  • NAO-2024-00044 (Seaward Marine Corp Powell Creek Dredging Project, Prince George County, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 8/17/2025

    Seaward Marine Corporation requests authorization to dredge Powell Creek Channel, from the confluence of the James River to the turning basin past the Hitch Gravel Mine Site, approximately 13,600 linear feet long by 100-200 foot wide, to a maximum depth of minus 14-feet below mean lower low water and would result in the removal of approximately 230,000 cubic yards (32.83 acres) of dredged material. The dredged material will be disposed of on-site, within an extinct mine for future beneficial use. The dredged channel will allow for waterway access to the mining site for exporting of materials. Additionally, 18- 30-inch diameter hollow steel pipes will be installed utilizing a vibratory hammer in 3 locations for mooring, and 4 new channel markers will be installed near the entrance to the channel.

  • 408-NAO-2025-0035 (Safe Harbor Bluewater Marina Improvements Project )

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by Safe Harbor Bluewater Marina Improvements Project which includes new work and maintenance dredging and the replacement of multiple fixed piers with floating piers for safe ingress/egress to the marina and for the mooring of larger vessels at the marina along Herbert's Creek (Sunset Creek) located at 25 Marina Road, Hampton, VA. This project may alter the Hampton Creek/Herberts Creek Federal Navigation Channel. The area will be dredged to -6.5-ft MLW and -8.0-ft MLW and transported to an approved upland facility. Comments should be received by the close of business on June 6, 2025.
