  • Environmental Assessment for Potential Impact Flood Plains in Hampton

    Expiration date: 3/16/2017

    The Air Force is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for dredged material placement from maintenance dredging of the Back River Federal Navigation Channel Project located adjacent to Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE - Langley). This project is necessary to provide access and safe navigation in support of national defense to JBLE-Langley in Hampton, Virginia, from the Chesapeake Bay.
  • NAO-2014-1891 Lied Pier

    Expiration date: 2/12/2015

    Todd Lied proposes to construct a 5-foot by 150-foot residential open-pile timber pier in the Southwest Branch of the Back River, a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay. Public comment period ends Feb. 12, 2015.

    Langley Air Force Base proposes to construct in the same vicinity of an existing fuel pier, a new fuel pier facility that will include about 65,000 cubic yards of dredging, with the dredged material to be transported and discharged at the Norfolk Ocean Disposal Site (NODS).

    The Norfolk District has prepared a draft Environmental Assessment on behalf of Joint Base Langley Eustis (JBLE) and Defense Logistic Agency (DLA) to assess the potential impacts of the DLA construction of a new fuel and associated dredging of the Langley Air Force Base (LAFB) pier for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) fuel pier replacement project, located at the Langley Air Force Base (LAFB) in Hampton, Va.

    The Economic Development Authority of the City of Hampton proposes to modify the existing permit to develop property within the established Langley Research and Development Park. The project, as authorized, will result in permanent impacts to 2.89 acres of jurisdictional, nontidal wetlands and waters. The public comment period ends Feb. 10, 2014.
