  • Lake Drummond Reservation Temporary Restriction, Dismal Swamp Canal, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway

    Effective May 11, 2015, the Lake Drummond Reservation on the Dismal Swamp Canal, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Chesapeake, Virginia, will have limited public visitation due to construction activities. The reservation will reopen to full capacity later this fall.

    This project involves the construction of a recreational vehicle sales and repair facility on Hillcrest Parkway in Chesapeake, Virginia, between Battlefield Boulevard and the Chesapeake Expressway. Approximately 3.11 acres of palustrine forested wetlands will be impacted by the proposed RV facility. The wetlands are located within the Northwest River drainage basin.

    Seagate Terminals LLC proposes to develop a marine terminal on the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River that will handle bulk materials for import and export. The approximate 15-acre landside facility will permanently impact thousands of square feet of wetlands. The public comment period ends Feb. 19, 2015.

    Virginia Electric and Power Company proposes to stabilize a portion of the shoreline at the Chesapeake Energy Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. The Chesapeake Energy Center is planned for decommissioning in 2014/2015, and the purpose of the project is to stabilize the remainder of the perimeter shoreline with a long term, low maintenance solution that minimizes environmental impacts. Public comment period ends Sept. 4, 2014.
