  • 408-NAO-2025-0105 (Island Motor Inn Bulkhead Project)

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by Island Motor Inn, Inc. to install approximately 631 LF of bulkhead, no more than 2-feet channelward of the existing, failing bulkhead and backfill with clean fill. The project will also include the installation of 63 LF of bulkhead along the northern portion of the property at the entrance of the existing boat basin and backfilling 2,220 square feet with clean fill. This project is located along Lewis Creek at the Island Motor Inn at 4391 Main St, Chincoteague Island, VA, 23336. This project may alter the Lewis Creek portion of the Waterway of the Coast of Virginia Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on January 2, 2026.

    Expiration date: 3/10/2025

    The applicant proposes to permanently impact 0.185 acres of non-tidal forested wetlands associated with the construction of a single-family residence, detached garage, and associated infrastructure. All work is to occur in Gloucester County, Virginia. Comments should be received by the close of business on March 10, 2025.

  • NAO-2016-01105 (Utterback Assemblage, Prince Williams, Virginia)

    Expiration date: 11/22/2024

    The proposed project includes the placement of fill material for filling and grading, public road improvement, stormwater management facilities, and other associated infrastructure for the construction of a residential development. A total of 1.83 acres and 402 linear feet of waters of the US will be permanently impacted. Permanent impacts include 0.13 acre of forested wetlands, 0.6 acre of emergent wetlands, 1.04 acre of open water, 188 linear feet of perennial stream, 132 linear feet of intermittent stream, 12 feet of ephemeral stream, and 70 linear feet of culvert removal and temporary impacts include 0.01 acre of emergent wetlands, 0.1.6 acre of open water and 17 linear feet of intermittent stream.
