  • Wallops_Island_danger_zone

    Expiration date: 4/23/2013

    The Norfolk District Corps of Engineers has established a temporary Danger Zone for the period of April 17th through April 22nd, 2013, around the NASA Wallops Flight Center in Accomack, Va., for the NASA Orbital's resupply to space station launch.

  • NAO-2012-2048

    Expiration date: 4/29/2013

    The bank sponsor proposes to establish, design, construct and operate a compensatory stream mitigation bank to be known as the Lower James Stream Mitigation Bank. The purpose of the mitigation bank is to provide off-site compensatory mitigation for projects that result in unavoidable impacts to non-tidal streams in the James River Watershed. Public comment period ends April 29, 2013.

  • PROPOSED ISSUANCE, REISSUANCE, AND/OR MODIFICATION OF THE NORFOLK DISTRICT REGIONAL PERMITS

    Expiration date: 4/22/2013

    The Norfolk District is proposing the issuance of two new Regional Permits (RP-01 and RP-02, formerly LOP-1 and LOP-2, respectfully) and the revision and reissuance of seven Regional Permits (RP-05, RP-15, RP-17, RP-18, RP-19, RP-20, and RP-22). All of the above-referenced permits are currently in effect, but will expire on August 14, 2013 with the exception of RP-05 and RP-20. RP-05 and RP-20 are set to expire on October 5, 2016 and May 25, 2017, respectfully.

    This public notice is an evaluation review of an after-the-fact application for an unauthorized activity. The application involves the review of the six year old construction of an earthen dam, which impounded a perennial stream, thus impacting approximately 1947 linear feet and an undetermined amount of wetlands that may have been associated with the stream system.

  • Wetland Hydrology Determinations for the 2013 Monitoring Season

    On March 13, 2013, Regulatory released a public notice regarding preceding precipitation conditions for shallow groundwater well monitoring associated with wetland determinations. Based on analysis of several rainfall recording stations and reference groundwater monitoring wells within the Hampton Roads region, the Norfolk District has determined that antecedent precipitation conditions for shallow groundwater well monitoring associated with wetland determinations has been within or above normal ranges.
