    Loudoun County Department of Transportation and Capital Infrastructure proposes to construct a four lane divided highway and associated infrastructure on and adjacent to Belmont Ridge Road (Route 659) between Truro Parish Drive and Croson Lane in Loudoun County, Virginia.     The Norfolk District proposes the reissuance with minor revisions to better describe authorized activities of Regional Permit 20 (RP-20), scheduled to expire on May 24, 2017. RP-20 authorizes the creation of artificial reefs (oyster and fish haven) and dredging of old shellfish reefs, when the material, dredge shell or structural, will be used to create new or enhance existing natural or artificial reefs owned, operated or managed by the Commonwealth of Virginia by the Virginia Marine Resources Commission.

    Mosquito spraying scheduled for Portions of Portsmouth Tuesday

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Tuesday November 1st over federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area in Portsmouth.

    Vulcan is proposing to expand mining operation at the existing quarry. The project will impact 1.22 acres of forested wetlands, 0.88 acre of emergent wetlands, 0.63 acre of open water, and 440 linear feet of stream channel. Total cumulative impacts for the project are 1.81 acres of forested wetlands, 0.88 acre of emergent wetlands, 0.63 acre of open water and 645 linear feet of stream channel. The applicant indicated that impact have been avoided and minimized by avoiding impacts to the James River and its RPA and Goode Creek. To mitigate for the proposed impacts, the applicant proposed to purchase 3.32 wetland credits from the James River Mitigation Bank and 359 stream credits from the Amelia Environmental Bank.

  • The North Landing Bridge, which spans the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway on the border of Chesapeake, Virginia and Virginia Beach, Virginia, handles approximately 11,000 vehicles per day under normal conditions. The bridge was damaged by two separate barge strikes, the first on March 1, 2016, the second on June 4, 2016.

    North Landing Bridge to Close to Vehicle Traffic for 4 Days

    The North Landing Bridge will close to vehicle traffic from 9 a.m. Oct. 11 to 4 p.m. Oct. 14 to fully repair the damage sustained during two barge strikes earlier this year.

    Moore's Point, LLC, proposes to build 161 residential lots on 48.855 acres of land located between Nansemond Parkway and Portsmouth Blvd in Suffolk, Virginia. All of the lots and most of the roads will be constructed on uplands. The project requires that two access roads be constructed through forested wetlands.

The proposed mitigation bank, is located on two tracts, the Benges Creek Site and the Staunton River Site, totaling approximately 99 acres of land within the Clinch River Basin, in Grayson County, Virginia. The purpose of this project is to construct new reef habitat and rehabilitate existing reef habitat in the lower Piankatank River in Middlesex and Matthews counties that closely resemble natural conditions, in terms of structure and function, in a technically and economically sound manner.
