    Expiration date: 2/19/2021

    The applicant is requesting a State Program General Permit (17-SPGP-01) from the Norfolk District under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for the permanent discharge of fill into 1,218 linear feet (0.18 acre) of stream channel, 0.40 acre of palustrine forested (PFO) wetlands, 0.28 acre of palustrine emergent (PEM) wetlands, and 1.00 acre of palustrine open waters (POW). The project site is located north of Plank Road, east of Interstate 95, south of Cowan Boulevard, and in the City of Fredericksburg, Virginia

    The applicant proposes the installation of approximately 4,300 linear feet of living shoreline along the Carter's Grove waterfront, in two separate segments. In total the project is comprised of 12 free-standing, offshore, armor stone breakwaters and 78,000 cubic yards of sand fill to create 108,754 square feet of stable, sandy, intertidal shoreline and 285,595 square feet of vegetated backshore.

    The applicant, Colonna’s Shipyard, proposes to relocate Drydock #3. The project consists of dredging a 545-foot by 155-foot (80,325 sf) basin to achieve maximum depths of -48 feet MLW and a 230-foot by 260-foot (59,800 sf) access channel to achieve maximum depths of -28 feet MLW to accommodate the relocation. Dredged materials will be placed at the Craney Island Dredged Materials Management Area (CIDMMA) Rehandling Basin for the initial dredging cycle. Drydock #3 is currently located 200 feet to the west but must be relocated for safety.

  • FEDERAL REGISTER NOTICE ANNOUNCING THE REISSUANCE OF THE NATIONWIDE PERMITS

    On January 13, 2021, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) published the notice in the Federal Register (86 FR 2744) announcing the reissuance of 12 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and four new NWPs, as well as the reissuance of NWP general conditions and definitions with some modifications. These 16 NWPs will go into effect on March 15, 2021, and will expire on March 14, 2026:
