  • NAO-2022-01297, Haywood Marina, Deltaville, Middlesex County

    Expiration date: 9/30/2022

    The applicant proposes to make improvements to an existing marina on Broad Creek to include bulkheading, pier replacement, boat ramp installation, dredging, and living shoreline creation and ecological restoration. The dredged material will be mechanically dredged utilizing an excavator on land, then placed in a dump truck adjacent to the dredged area, allowed to de-water, then moved off-site to an approved upland site (Tax Map 40 34 5A, General Puller Highway). The project will result in the loss of 0.01 acre of tidal vegetated wetlands, 0.01 acre of tidal mudflats, and 0.03 acre of subaqueous bottom. Public comments should be received by the close of business on September 30, 2022. 

  • PROPOSED REISSUANCE OF THE NORFOLK DISTRICT REGIONAL PERMIT 5 (RP-05)

    Expiration date: 6/23/2022

    The Norfolk District proposes the reissuance of the Regional Permit 5 (16-RP-05), scheduled to expire on June 9, 2022. Regional Permit 5 authorizes private entities to discharge dredged and/or fill material into waters of the U.S. for the purpose of constructing small impoundments for general and private use. These uses include, but are not limited to, recreation, aesthetics, and water storage for fire prevention; moreover, the impacts may not result in more than minimal individual or cumulative adverse environmental impacts. Public comments should be received by June 23, 2022.
  • NAO-2020-1000 (Bremo Bluff Power Station)

    Expiration date: 3/24/2022

    Virginia Electric and Power Company proposed to construct a and operate a new fossil fuel combustion products management facility that would facilitate the mandated closure of the coal combustion residual (CCR) surface impoundment at the Bremo Bluff Power Station located in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Public comments should be received by the close of business on March 24, 2022.

  • Section 408 Review of Embassy Suites Patio Improvement, Virginia Beach, Virginia

    Expiration date: 9/7/2021

    Interested parties are hereby notified of a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) that has been received and will be evaluated by the Norfolk District. The action being considered is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia and has the potential to impact the Virginia Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project. The action is proposed at the Embassy Suites Virginia Beach immediately landward of the federal project’s seawall between 41st and 42nd and includes constructing and/or installing aluminum picket railings, wood decks, paver areas, concrete sidewalks, and at grade landscaping within the seawall easement.
  • Norfolk District’s Final Regional Conditions, 401 Water Quality Certification, and Coastal Zone Management Act Determination for the Sixteen 2021 Nationwide Permits

    The purpose of this Public Notice is to provide an update on Norfolk District’s Final Regional Conditions, the Section 401 Water Quality Certification (WQC) and the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) determination for the reissuance of 12 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and four new NWPs published as a final rule in the Federal Register (86 FR 2744) on January 13, 2021. The Norfolk District received the CZMA determination on December 17, 2020 and the Section 401 WQC on December 21, 2020 from the Commonwealth of Virginia for the 16 NWPs and the regional conditions applicable in Virginia, including the Northern Virginia Military Installations within Baltimore District’s Area of Responsibility. The Section 401 WQC and CZMA determination were provided for the entire set of NWPs proposed in the September 15, 2020 Federal Register (85 FR 57298). However, Norfolk District developed new regional conditions to address only the Section 401 WQC and the CZMA conditions for the 16 NWPs finalized in the January 13, 2021 Federal Register.
