    The project is located north of the Chickahominy River, west of Holly Hills Road, and south of Cedar Lane, Hanover County, Virginia. The Chickahominy River is a tributary of the James River and the Chesapeake Bay. The applicant proposes to construct 117 single-family homes, roads, stormwater management facilities, and utilities to be known as Chickahominy Falls Section VIII on 59.85 acres.

  • Section 408 Review of Sand Maintenance and Structural Features, Sandbridge Beach, Virginia Beach, Virginia

    Multiple requests for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) have been received and will be evaluated by the Norfolk District.

    The City of Norfolk proposes to construct a beach nourishment project at four different reaches along its Ocean View and Willoughby Spit shoreline. The proposed fill at Reach 1 is between 24th Bay Street and Bay Point Drive, the fill at Reach 2 is between Chesapeake Boulevard and Atlans Street, the fill at Reach 3 is between 6th View Street and Norfolk Avenue, and the proposed fill at Reach 4 is between 12th View Street and 9th View Street. The purpose of the project is to restore and enhance coastal storm protection to residential, public and commercial structures by increasing the beach width and establishing a beach berm at +4.0 feet NAVD88. The project will accomplish this purpose by placing approximately 393,000 cubic yards of sand along 14,400 linear feet of shoreline.

    The purpose of the proposed work is to provide connection from the existing portion of Summit School Road from its current terminus, south along a new alignment to connect with existing Telegraph Road, and to improve the existing Telegraph Road between Caton Hill Road and the Prince William Parkway.

    The applicant is requesting a State Program General Permit (17-SPGP-01) from the Norfolk District under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for the permanent discharge of fill into 1,218 linear feet (0.18 acre) of stream channel, 0.40 acre of palustrine forested (PFO) wetlands, 0.28 acre of palustrine emergent (PEM) wetlands, and 1.00 acre of palustrine open waters (POW). The project site is located north of Plank Road, east of Interstate 95, south of Cowan Boulevard, and in the City of Fredericksburg, Virginia
