    NWP-170123

    On January 6, 2017, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) published the notice in the Federal Register announcing the reissuance of all 50 existing nationwide permits (NWPs), general conditions, and definitions with some modifications. The Corps also issued two new NWPs, one new general condition, and five new definitions. The 2017 NWPs will go into effect on March 19, 2017, and will expire on March 18, 2022.

    The applicant proposes to develop phase VII of Bayhill Pointe subdivision on a 58-acre parcel that will tie in to the existing subdivision at the terminus of Buffalo Springs Drive and will include 109 lots.

    Chesapeake Tunnel Joint Venture proposes to discharge fill into 18.5 acres of subaqueous bottom at Thimble Shoal in the Chesapeake Bay to construct a new parallel two-lane tunnel approximately 6,525 feet long for the purpose of expanding roadway capacity on the Lucius Kellam, Jr. Bridge Tunnel. The temporary impact areas total approximately 182 acres. The applicant is not proposing mitigation for the 1.3 acres of permanent subaqueous bottom loss. 408 permission will be required. The Regulatory Branch is evaluating this project pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act.

Hickory Manor Phase I and II at completion will include117 townhomes, 310 detached condominiums, clubhouse, swimming pool, playground and associated infrastructure. The project is located in waters and wetlands associated with hydrologic unit code (HUC) 03010205 Northwest River watershed in Chesapeake, Virginia.

    Vulcan Construction Materials, LLC proposes the expansion of an existing mineral extraction operation with a second extraction pit and the relocation of the onsite processing facility, on a site known as “Graham Quarry Mineral Reserve Extraction (MRE)” in Fairfax County, Virginia. Permanent impacts are to 0.36 acre of palustrine forested (PFO) wetland, 0.34 acre of palustrine scrub-shrub (PSS) wetland, and 0.44 acre (1,607 linear feet) of stream channel.     Norfolk District closes Dismal Swamp Canal indefinitely

    Officials at the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have announced that the Dismal Swamp Canal will be closed indefinitely.

    Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wood propose to hydraulically dredge approximately 1608 cubic yards of material within a 21720 square foot area along Kings Creek to achieve maximum depths of minus four (-4.0) feet at mean low water. The purpose of the project is to improve water access to the East River for multiple property owners situated along Kings Creek. The project is located within Kings Creek, a tributary to the East River, and is situated north of Riverview Road and south of Kings Creek Lane in Mathews County, Virginia.

    Corps schedules 15-minute closures at Deep Creek Bridge Wednesday

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will close the Deep Creek Bridge to traffic for 15 minute intervals Wednesday, Dec. 14, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Site 44PW1941 is located within the Cayden Ridge project area, a proposed residential development with associated infrastructure.

Site 44FX3780, consists of seven rifle pits likely associated with the First Battle of Manassas and the Manassas Battlefield Historic District Expansion are located within the Stuarts Crossing project area, a proposed residential development with associated infrastructure.

The proposed activity is located in Campbell County Virginia and will occur in Opossum Creek and its tributaries.

The Midwood project, a proposed data center with associated infrastructure, is located within the Core of the Buckland Mills Battlefield in Haymarket, Virginia.
