VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -– Dozers move sand as the dredge pipes it in from the ocean floor. This project is part of the Virginia Beach Hurricane Protection Beach Renourishment Project and is the first renourishment since the project was completed in 2001. The $143 million storm protection project in 2001 included spanning the original boardwalk, adding pump stations, seawall improvements and sand replenishment.
