Storm and Flood Risk Management Projects
The Norfolk District's Storm Damage and Flood Risk Management programs works toward reducing overall storm damage and flood risk to communities in the commonwealth of Virginia. This includes the appropriate use and resiliency of structures such as dams, levees and floodwalls, as well as promoting non-structural alternatives such as land acquisition, flood proofing, elevation to reduce the risk of loss of life, reduce long-term economic damages to the public and private sector, and improve the natural environment.
