    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) has been received and will be evaluated by the Norfolk District.  Written comments, including any objections to the proposed alteration, stating reasons therefore, are being solicited from anyone having an interest in the requested alteration. Comments are due by May 27, 2022.

    On March 29, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published a notice for public comment regarding Mountain Valley Pipeline, LLC’s proposal to discharge dredged and/or fill material into waters of the U.S. associated with the construction of the pipeline; the public comment period is extended until May 28.

    Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) is proposing to expand landfill operations at the existing Regional Landfill in Suffolk, Virginia off merged U.S. Routes 58, 13, and 460. The proposed landfill expansion would impact approximately 129 acres of forested wetlands, which are waters of the United States regulated under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. Due to the anticipated wetland impacts and the scope of the project, the Corps is reviewing the project through the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act. The Corps is soliciting comments on the project itself, as well as, on the range of alternatives and issues to be addressed in the EIS.

    Fort Myer Construction proposes improvements to the intersection of Braddock Road and Pleasant Valley Road in Fairfax County, Virginia, consisting of a roundabout, a right turn by-pass lane with associated crosswalks and curb ramps for pedestrians, and stormwater controls. The purpose of the improvements is to alleviate congestion in the area. Public comment period ends Jan. 5, 2015.

  • Finalized EA and FONSI for Gathright Dam Low Flow Agumentation Project

    An Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared to assess the potential impacts of the Gathright Dam Low Flow Augmentation Project on the Jackson River, Lake Moomaw and surrounding area near Covington, Va. A 30-day public comment period was completed and all comments that were received during that time were addressed and were added to the document. The completed EA and finalized Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are included as attachment on this public notice.
