NOAA Marine Operations Center Environmental Assessement

This Environmental Assessment has been prepared to assess the potential impacts of the new work and maintenance dredging of the approach and berthing areas of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Marine Operations Center – Atlantic (NOAA MOC-A) in Norfolk, Va.

Four alternatives were identified for this project: relocation of the NOAA MOC-A facility, dredging of the NOAA MOC-A facility’s approach and berthing areas to previously permitted depths, No-Action Alternative, and the Proposed Action Alternative to maintenance and new work dredge the NOAA MOC-A facility’s approach and berthing areas. The direct and indirect impacts of the Proposed Action Alternative and No-Action Alternative were evaluated for temporary and permanent impacts.
