Reissuance and Modification of Norfolk District Regional Permit

The Norfolk District announces the reissuance of the following Regional Permit that expired on August 14, 2018.  Effective today, this permit supersedes and replaces all previous versions.

Regional Permit 01 (RP-01) for certain Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) roadway and railway projects involving work, structures, and filling (both temporary and permanent), in waters of the United States, within the geographical limits of the Commonwealth of Virginia under the regulatory jurisdiction of the Norfolk District Army Corps of Engineers. The maximum impacts allowed under this RP for projects that are single and complete with independent utility and purpose are:

a. the TOTAL permanent loss of not more than one (1) acre of waters of the U.S., to include stream channel, wetlands, and open waters

b. the permanent loss of not more than 1,000 linear feet of stream channel.

The Norfolk District Commander, Colonel Patrick V. Kinsman, signed the modified permits along with their supporting decision documents authorizing their use for another five years.  These new Regional Permits can be found on our web site:
