Given her quick success in that process, Stacey Nolan is the district’s “Hero of the Week.” A member of Real Estate’s Acquisition, Management and Disposal Section, she credits the office’s rapid research practices for mission success.

    Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct six pulse releases from the Gathright Dam and Lake Moomaw project near Covington between June and October.

  • Corps, city to renourish Virginia Beach oceanfront

    The district has awarded the Virginia Beach Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project renourishment contract to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company of Oak Brook, Illinois. The bid of $22.64 million includes the placement of 1.4 million cubic yards of sand from 15th Street to 70th Street.
  • Corps awards contract to small business for Chincoteague Bay Channel dredging

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded Houston based Dredgit Environmental Corp., a $520,070 contract to perform maintenance dredging along the Chincoteague Bay Federal Navigation Channel.
  • With mosquito season in the air, Norfolk District prepped for another fight

    NORFOLK, Va. – With the return of warmer weather, the bugs are never far behind. Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has teamed up with Portsmouth to keep mosquitoes contained at its Craney Island dredged material management area and away from the surrounding community.
  • Corps to close North Landing Bridge for repairs

    North Landing Bridge, which spans the Albemarle & Chesapeake Canal in Chesapeake, will temporarily close to vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 to 2 p.m. Friday, May 17 while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers replaces an underwater electrical cable and makes other electrical and mechanical repairs to the bridge.
  • North Landing Bridge openings modified while ongoing repairs are made

    NORFOLK, Va. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is modifying North Landing Bridge's navigation openings to two a day Monday through Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. while ongoing repairs to the bridge are completed. These openings could last up to an hour, and motorists should plan accordingly.
  • North Landing Bridge closes for repairs

    NORFOLK, Va. – The North Landing Bridge that spans the Albemarle & Chesapeake Canal in Chesapeake, Va. will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic from 9 a.m. Monday, May 6, to 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, while the Army Corps of Engineers makes repairs to the bridge.
