NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has scheduled aerial mosquito treatment on July 23rd, over the federal property on Craney Island.
Eastern Aviation LLC – the district’s contractor – will spray liquid larvicide to target developing mosquito larvae in the area.
Targeting developing larvae, the treatment will be sprayed by a crop-duster style aircraft. If weather conditions prevent spraying on July 23rd, the makeup date will be July 24th.
Beekeepers in affected areas do not need to keep bees covered during spraying operations, as the chemical used does not affect bees.
