    Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) is proposing to expand landfill operations at the existing Regional Landfill in Suffolk, Virginia off merged U.S. Routes 58, 13, and 460. The proposed landfill expansion would impact approximately 129 acres of forested wetlands, which are waters of the United States regulated under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. Due to the anticipated wetland impacts and the scope of the project, the Corps is reviewing the project through the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) process pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act. The Corps is soliciting comments on the project itself, as well as, on the range of alternatives and issues to be addressed in the EIS.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Miami-Dade County, its non-federal sponsor, will host a pair of online public meetings this month on the Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study. The public is invited to learn more about the study and its findings at the identical virtual sessions, scheduled for 5-7 p.m. June 9 and 1-3 p.m. June 11.
