North Landing Bridge reopens after two-day repairs

The North Landing Bridge spans the Atlantic Coastal Waterway between Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. The 65 year old dual span swing bridge was hit by a barge in the early morning hours of March 1, 2016.

NORFOLK, Va. –- The North Landing Bridge in Chesapeake, Va. reopened this afternoon after maintenance crews replaced electrical cables at the bridge.

The temporary, two-day closure prevented vessel traffic passage through the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal – Route 1– of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Vessel operators may call 757-201-7642 regarding the Albemarle and Chesapeake Canal or Dismal Swamp Canal conditions. Lock and bridge operators monitor marine channel 13.
