FORT NORFOLK, Va. – Fort Norfolk will close to visitors from Feb. 24 to June 6 as contractors replace the roof on a circa 1855 magazine building.

Vista Construction LLC, an 8a small business company based in Norfolk, will remove and replace the magazine building’s roof, which will feature new eco-friendly synthetic sheets, ice and water shield, new shingles and flashing, and new soffit and fascia boards.

The repairs are part of Norfolk District’s continuing effort to preserve and maintain historic Fort Norfolk.

This construction marks the final phase of several large repair efforts begun in 2010 to protect the historic fabric of the fort.
