NORFOLK, Va. -- Aerial mosquito treatment is scheduled over federal property on Craney Island Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Eastern Aviation LLC – the district’s contractor – will use a dust-cropper-style aircraft to spray liquid larvicide that targets developing mosquito larvae. Beekeepers in the treatment areas do not need to keep bees covered during spraying operations, as the chemical used does not affect bees.
If weather conditions prevent spraying, the makeup date will be Oct. 5.
The Portsmouth Mosquito Hotline provides continuous updates on all aerial mosquito spraying in the area and can be reached at 757-393-8666.
