SUFFOLK, Va. — Community members can learn more about restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot (FNOD) and hear the latest cleanup progress during a hybrid (virtual and in-person) quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting scheduled for 6:15 to 8 p.m. Sept. 8.
The meeting is open to the public in an in-person and online format.

People who would like to attend the meeting virtually, should contact Mr. Sher Zaman by phone at (410) 320-9516 or by email at Sher.Zaman@usace.army.mil for online meeting access information.
Virtual attendees should log on to the meeting at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled meeting start time in case there are technical issues.
Topics planned for the September meeting include:
- TNT Pilot Study
- TNT TCRA Update
- BCP Suffolk Update
Board members and stakeholders include residents, area businesses; local, state and federal regulators; property owners, USACE personnel and contractors, and other interested parties.
The quarterly RAB meetings serve as a public forum for the USACE’s cleanup progress at the 975-acre defense depot, located near the former Tidewater Community College Portsmouth campus. During the meetings, RAB members ask questions and provide input on all aspects of the restoration process to the interagency project team. The USEPA placed FNOD on its National Priorities List (NPL) in 1997. Two years later, the FNOD RAB was established.
