NORFOLK, Va. — Weather permitting, the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct aerial mosquito treatment over the federal property of Craney Island, Virginia, Sept. 9.
Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the contractor will target larvae by using a fixed-wing aircraft to spray granular mosquito larvicide.
Beekeepers in the affected areas do not need to take special precautions, as the chemical used does not affect bees.
The inclement weather date is Sept. 10.
The Portsmouth Mosquito Hotline, 757-393-8666, provides continuous updates on all aerial mosquito spraying in the area.
