NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct aerial mosquito treatment over federal property of Craney Island, Virginia, Aug 13.

This has been updated from the original date of today, due to logistical issues.

Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., the contractor will target larvae by using a fixed-wing aircraft to spray granular mosquito larvicide.

Beekeepers in the affected areas do not need to take special precautions, as the chemical used does not affect bees.

The Portsmouth Mosquito Hotline, 757-393-8666, provides continuous updates on all aerial mosquito spraying in the area.
