NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, are slated to conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying over federal properties June, 22.
If conditions do not allow for treatment, another date will be tentatively scheduled.
The contracted spraying is scheduled in the Churchland-area Portsmouth, Craney Island and adjacent city properties north of State Route 164.
The adult mosquito spray chemical can be toxic to bees; beekeepers need to cover their hives. People with known allergies should stay indoors.
The Portsmouth Mosquito Hotline provides continuous updates on all aerial mosquito spraying in the area at 757-393-8666.
