NORFOLK, Va. – Nearly seven miles of beach along the Willoughby Spit and East Ocean View areas of the city will expand by 60 feet through a partnership between the city of Norfolk and the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The $18.5 million project will provide shoreline protection to the city in an area that is susceptible to coastal flooding during nor’easters and hurricanes. (U.S. Army photo/Patrick Bloodgood)
