FORT NORFOLK, Va.-- Groups of 4th grade students from Virginia Beach's Seatack Elementary School visit the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to measure the water temperature and salinity and measure the growth of baby oysters. The Corps has partnered with the students to raise baby oysters in the Elizabeth River along the shoreline of Norfolk District's property. In the future, oysters will be used to build an oyster reef.
