Captain Antonio Pazos, a civil engineer from the Norfolk District, helps collect baby oysters as part of an oyster reef project. The district built floats and placed baby oysters, or spat, in mesh bags. Volunteers like Pazos help clean the algae off the bags several times a year and measure the growth of the oyster. The oysters are then placed on a Corps-built reef in the Elizabeth River behind historic Fort Norfolk. (U.S. Army photo/Pamela K. Spaugy)
