  • Section 408 Review of Sand Maintenance and Structural Activities, Sandbridge Beach, Virginia Beach, Virginia

    Interested parties are hereby notified of a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. Section 408) that has been received and will be evaluated by the Norfolk District. The actions being considered are located in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach, Virginia and have the potential to impact the Sandbridge Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project. The actions  proposed at 2828 and 3608 Sandfiddler Road include sand maintenance activities to remove excess sand that has migrated onto private property and the relocation of sand back onto Sandbridge beach.  The action proposed at 3520 Sandfiddler Road includes sand maintenance activities and the construction of a bulkhead and return walls. Comments are due by May 23, 2022.

    Haversham Close, LLC is proposing to gain water access for four properties with new and maintenance dredging via mechanical methods of mudflat/sand/subaqueous bottom within a 1.295 acre footprint in Dey Cove, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Public comments should be received by the close of business June 1, 2022.

  • 408-NA0-2022-0021; Behrman, Broad Bay in Virginia Beach

    The public comment period is open until April 26, 2022, for a Joint Permit Application from from Brady Behrman to remove the existing pier, lift, and boat house, and construct approximately 73 linear feet of riprap, a 7'x54' groin, 72 linear feet of timber bulkhead, and a 280 linear foot private open pile pier with a L-head, boat lift, open sided roof, (3) PWC lifts, and (5) mooring piles along Broad Bay at 1644 Cutty Shark Road, Virginia Beach, VA.

    With a comment period closing April 19, the Norfolk District recieved a joint permit application from the city of Virginia Beach for construction of the Cripple Creek Dredged Material Transfer Station along the Lynnhaven River's eastern branch adjacent to 2540 Virginia Beach Blvd.
  • NAO-2015-00459 (Cripple Creek Dredged Material Transfer Station)

    The City of Virginia Beach proposes to impact wetlands and Waters of the U.S. for the construction of the Cripple Creek Dredged Material Transfer Station at 2540 Virginia Beach Boulevard, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The impacts are associated with the construction of 30 linear feet of bulkhead (with 23-foot returns), shoreline revetment, two 7-pile mooring dolphins and dredging for a basin to support the transfer of dredged material from barges to trucks. The bulkhead and fender would impact 90 square feet of non-vegetated tidal wetlands and 65 square feet of scrub/shrub vegetated tidal wetlands. The City of Virginia Beach would remove an estimated 625 cubic yards of dredged material from the proposed 4,350-square foot basin. The dredging (-7.5-foot NAVD) would impact 4,870 square feet of subaqueous bottom, and 495 square feet of non-vegetated wetlands in the 2X buffer and 390 square feet of vegetated wetlands (240 square feet in 2x and 150 square feet in 4X buffer). Public comments should be received by the close of business on April 18, 2022.
