The project site drains into Broad Branch, a tributary to Tuckahoe Creek, which drains into the James River, a navigable water of the U.S.

The purpose of the constructed levee and pumping station is to protect the homes and other property in the Huntington neighborhood from flooding. The project is located in Cameron Run and unnamed tributaries to Cameron Run in Huntington Park at the northern end of Liberty Drive in Fairfax County, Virginia.
