    Expiration date: 10/26/2014

    The City of Chesapeake is proposing improvements to 1.9 miles of Route 337 (Portsmouth Boulevard in Chesapeake and Nansemond Boulevard in Suffolk) between I-664 interchange in Chesapeake and Helen St. in Suffolk, Virginia. The improvements include widening the road from two lanes to four lanes, adding sidewalks, constructing a multi-use path, etc. Construction of the improvements will result in the permanent impact 1.07 acres of nontidal wetland and open water ditch, and 481 linear feet of stream. The public comment period ends on October 26, 2014.

    Dominon Virginia Power is proposing to expand the existing Yadkin Substation located at 3015 Yadkin Road in Chesapeake, Virginia to accommodate additional transmission infrastructure and tap into existing overhead transmission lines. It will result in permanent unavoidable impacts to approximately 1.28 acres of palustrine forested (PFO) wetlands, 0.32 acres of palustrine emergent (PEM) wetlands and 2,270 linear feet (LF) of jurisdictional ditch.

    Lamberts Point proposes to deepen the berth on each side of their Pier N at Lambert Point Docks to -34 ft MLW in Norfolk Virginia. The applicant proposes to dredge 945,000 square feet and remove 104,000 cubic yards of material twice in the next ten years, and is proposing to dredge mechanically and use the Rehandling Basin at Craney Island, or use a hydraulic dredge and direct discharge into Craney Island.

    Virginia Electric and Power Company proposes to stabilize a portion of the shoreline at the Chesapeake Energy Center located in the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, at the Chesapeake Energy Center, 2701 Vepco Street in Chesapeake, Virginia. Work is proposed in Priority Area 1 which has been identified as the shoreline area with the most severe erosion and in need of the most urgent repair. Priority Area 1 is approximately 1,050 feet long and the shoreline stabilization project involves fill and riprap in approximately 9,350 square feet (0.21 acres) of tidal wetlands and 11,520 square feet (0.26 acres) of non-tidal wetlands. Public comment period ends November 1, 2013.

  • NAO-2008-01491

    Expiration date: 3/29/2013

    The U.S. Army Corps has received an application from Perdue Agribusiness Incorporated, to perform maintenance and new dredging on their facility in the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River, in Chesapeake, Virginia. Perdue has recently brokered a deal to import and export product on larger vessels at their facility. In order to accommodate these vessels, the previously approved dredge limits and dredge depths will need to be modified. This will require the increase of the currently permitted depths (ranging from 39’ to 42’ in NAO-2008-01491, VMRC #08-V0525) to a new maximum depth of 43’. This operation will include of the removal of 25, 083 cubic yards of material covering 5.18 acres of subaqueous bottom. The spoil material is to be deposited in the Craney Island Rehandling Basin.
