Virginia Beach, Corps to host open house for Lynnhaven Ecosystem Restoration Project

The Lynnhaven is a priority, Tier I Tributary in Virginia for native oyster restoration designated by the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team.
WHY RESTORE THE LYNNHAVEN RIVER?
Largest Tidal Estuary in Virginia Beach. Some of most important recreational areas in Virginia for fishing, boating, crabbing, bird-watching and shellfishing. Is home to important nursery, foraging grounds, nesting areas and migratory habitat for fish and wildlife resources. Engaged federal, state, and local agencies as well as non-profit organizations and public. Lynnhaven is a priority, Tier I Tributary in Virginia for native oyster restoration designated by the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team.

NORFOLK, Virginia - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the City of Virginia Beach are hosting an informational meeting about the Lynnhaven River Basin Ecosystem Restoration Project today, Wednesday, October 10 from 6  – 7:30 p.m. at the Frank W. Cox High School, 2425 Shorehaven Drive, Virginia Beach.

The format of the meeting will be an informal open house, where the public can attend any time during the meeting hours, and staff from the USACE and City of Virginia Beach will be available to answer questions. 

The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to learn more about the project.
