  • 408-NAO-2026-0082 (Archbell - 165 Tranquility Trace New Pier)

    Expiration date: 9/18/2026

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by Mr. James Archbell to construct a new open pile timber along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at 165 Tranquility Trace, Chesapeake, VA. The new work shall not extend beyond the existing piers and lifts currently constructed on the adjacent properties. This project may alter the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway – Albemarle Chesapeake Canal (AIWW-ACC) Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on September 18, 2026.

    : Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by Mr. Robert Smith to construct a new pier addition to the existing timber pier along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway at 161 Tranquility Trace, Chesapeake, VA. The existing pier and boat lift will remain. The new work shall not extend beyond the existing piers and lifts currently constructed. This project may alter the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway – Albemarle Chesapeake Canal Federal Navigation Project (AIWW-ACC). Comments should be received by the close of business on September 18, 2026.

    Interested parties are hereby notified that a request for permission to alter a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) federal project pursuant to Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) has been received and is under evaluation by the Norfolk District. This Section 408 request was submitted by DJ Fortitude LLC for continued maintenance dredging of the existing 120-foot-long by 29-foot-wide basin to a depth of -7 feet MLW along Scotts Creek Federal Navigation Project at 1240 Bay Street, Portsmouth, VA. The dredged material will be transferred via truck or barge to an approved upland disposal area. This project may alter the Scotts Creek portion of the Norfolk Harbor and Channels Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on September 9, 2026.

This Section 408 request was submitted by Portsmouth Boating Center for continued maintenance dredging of the existing 120-foot-long by 24-foot-wide travelift slip basin to a depth of -7 feet MLW at the Portsmouth Boating Center along Scotts Creek Federal Navigation Project at 1244 Bay Street, Portsmouth, VA. This project may alter the Scotts Creek portion of the Norfolk Harbor and Channels Federal Navigation Project. Comments should be received by the close of business on September 9, 2026.
