    Gathright Dam pulse release scheduled for Sept. 2

    Operators at Gathright Dam near Covington, Virginia will conduct a pulse release Wednesday. The pulses will increase levels 3 to 4.5 feet in the Jackson River, and experts advise people who use the river to be aware of the river fluctuations caused by the pulses.
  • FNOD Restoration Advisory Board to meet Thursday

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host their quarterly public meeting regarding restoration efforts at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot Thursday. The Restoration Advisory Board meeting; which will take place at the Courtyard Marriott, 8060 Harbour View Blvd. in Suffolk from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m.; will feature discussions regarding the latest cleanup progress.
  • Craney Island mosquito spraying set for Aug. 10

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Monday, Aug. 10, at federal properties on Craney Island Dredged Material Management Area.
