    District sprints in at end-of-year dash

    The district’s final end-of-year sprint capped off an active fiscal year, with 797 contract actions obligating $293.34 million on projects throughout the commonwealth – a 19.7 percent increase from the previous year.
  • Final Gathright Dam pulse release of 2015 scheduled for Wednesday

    Operators at Gathright Dam near Covington, Virginia will conduct the final pulse release of the year Wednesday. The pulse, conducted by the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will begin at approximately 6 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. and will increase levels 3 to 4.5 feet in the Jackson River.
  • Craney Island mosquito spraying scheduled for Oct. 13

    The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the city of Portsmouth, Virginia, will conduct joint aerial mosquito spraying Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at federal properties on Craney Island, adjacent city properties, and the Churchland area in Portsmouth.
