    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Norfolk District will conduct a pulse release at Gathright Dam, near Covington, Va., on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 beginning at approximately 6 a.m.
  • SUFFOLK, Va. -- A sign warns people of the danger at the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot. In 1987 the Former Nansemond Ordnance Depot  became a matter of public concern when a piece of crystalline TNT was found at the Tidewater Community College, Portsmouth Campus. Extensive historical research, investigations, and testing led the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to place this site on the National Priority list in 1999. This treatment is the backup treatment that did not occur on July 10-16 due to unfavorable conditions.
